Abstract
The study aimed to determine the degree to which the respondents engaged in extension activities that achieve food security for rural families in the areas studied It also aimed to identify significant differences between the average degree to which the respondents engaged in extension activities that achieve food security for rural families It also aimed to determine the significance of the relationship between the independent variables studied for the respondents and the degree to which they engaged in extension activities that achieve food security It also aimed to identify the problems they face in achieving food security for rural families and their proposals for solving them. The study was conducted on a sample of 380 rural women in Abu El Matamir District, Beheira Governorate, during November and December 2024. The most important results were:
Nearly two-thirds of the female respondents (63.2%) reported an average level of involvement in activities that achieve overall household food security.
There were significant differences between the average scores of the female respondent's involvement in the activities they undertake to achieve household food security. This difference favored food safety activities.
There was a direct correlation between the variables of income, size of agricultural holdings, number of livestock, ownership of household appliances, educational status, family type, interest in commercial advertising, concern for national issues, and social support and protection, and the degree of involvement in activities that achieve overall household food security.
The most important problems facing rural women in achieving household food security are weak marketing of products in the village and that there are those who provide training in food processing at home.
The most important suggestions of the female respondents to overcome the problems and achieve food security for rural households are working to rationalize the use of chemical pesticides in crop spraying and working to market agricultural crops at reasonable prices.
