SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OBSTACLES IN SAHLE ELTINA AREA

Abstract

The research was carried out to determine the obstacles that impede the




sustainable development projects at Sahle ElTina Area and to identify the
under-study suggestions to overcome such obstacles.

The study included a random sample of 161 individual with 10% of the
inhabitants and beneficiaries of No 4 village and the Almal agricultural portioning
Company. The study comprised 1612 farmers. Data were collected be using an
interview questionnaires from during April 2010 .Frequencies and percentage
methods were used to analyze the data of study.
The research concluded the following results:
High number of the sample under study who acknowledged the educational
obstacles in terms of the far distance of schools from homes, with 86.7% of the total
sample. 96% of the sample reported that land preparation and flooding then draining
to remove salts (reduce salinity) were the most crucial problems at the study area.
The study showed also that obstacles of infrastructures are of great importance in
the stability at the study area.
The sample under study with 100% reported the existence of the these obstacles,
lack of potable water, electricity, post office, telephone service, public transportations
and the lack of security. One of the most social obstacles the repeatedly spread of
illiteracy and the lack of sports club within the area of research, the beneficiaries
confirmed that the most important obstacles are the absence of a resident doctor, the
shortage of supply goods within the research area with a rate of 98.6% and 89.3%, of
the total sample respectively.
