THE CHALLENGES FACING THE STABILITY OF THE SETTLERS UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE DESERT ENVIRONMENT IN AGRICULTURE COMMUNITIES DEVELOPED IN THE REGION OF SALAM CANAL

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the stability of the settlers under the
conditions of the desert environment, agricultural communities developed in
the region of Al-Salam Canal through three axes: to identify the degree of
social adaptation of the settlers, and to identify the degree of commitment of

the State to provide the necessities of life for the settlers community new, and
to identify the degree of satisfaction of the settlers on the availability of new
community services, and determine the relationship between the degree of
stability of the settlers developed between the independent variables studied,
and to identify the problems they face and their suggestions to overcome
them. The research was conducted in the region of Tina plain as one of the
new communities located in the region of Al-Salam Canal, which is affiliated
with Port Said as one of the promising areas. The two largest villages have
been selected to converge the largest number of the settlers in the region ,
they are village (4) which settled by 612 respondents, and village (7) which
settled by 590 respondents, Therefore the total search attained 1202
respondents, the total sample size 240 respondents By 20% of the total search
according to the equation Kreczs and Morgan. Data have been collected by
personal interview questionnaire which used percentages, averages and
Pearson correlation coefficient to test the correlation between the degree of
stability of the settlers developed between the independent variables studied
The results showed the following: (78.33%) of respondents-settlers fall in the
category of those with low social adaptation, and 94.17% of respondents
acknowledged that the degree of commitment of the State to provide the
necessities of life of the new community was among the low to medium, and
about 92.92% of the subjects fall into the category of low to medium
satisfaction for new community services, and 73% of people with degree of
stability of low to medium, and show a correlation at the level of 0,01
between the degree of stability of the settlers under the conditions of the
desert environment, agricultural communities developed in the region of AlSalam Canal and all the independent variables the following: age, the number
of family members, degree of participation in development activities.
